Swiss: Postdoctoral Fellow X-ray Optics 2010

The Paul Scherrer Institute is with 1300 employees the largest research centre for the natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland and a worldwide leading user laboratory. Its research activities are concentrated on the three main topics structure of matter, energy and environmental research as well as human health.

Recently, a collaboration between the Laboratory for Micro- and Nanotechnology (LMN) and Swiss Light Source (SLS) has been established to develop a novel type of diffractive X-ray lenses. These lenses will be applied to investigate the chemical properties of samples from various fields of research on the nanometer scale. As a partner in this project LMN is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow X-ray Optics

Your tasks

* Develop micro- and nanofabrication technologies for diffractive nanofocusing X-ray optics in the multi-keV and hard X-ray range
* Implementation and testing of the nanofocusing optics at the SLS and other synchrotrons for efficient high-resolution chemical imaging of matter

Your profile

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in physics, materials science or engineering. Experience in micro/nano-fabrication technology, diffractive optics, or experiments with synchrotron radiation would be highly desirable. You should enjoy working in an interdisciplinary, multinational research environment. We expect an ambitious personality working proactively in an independent and team oriented way.
