USA; Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Optical Metamaterials
The University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a Postdoctoral position in Optical Metamaterials research with Prof. Alkim Akyurtlu in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and the Center for Electromagnetic Materials and Optical Systems. The focus of the work will be on fabricating and characterizing optical negative index metamaterials based on doped semiconductors. The duties include fabrication of samples, characterization of samples, and validation of negative index of refraction of these samples. Experience in quantum optics, materials characterization, and excellent hands-on skills and experience in optical experiments are highly desirable. The ability and interest to pursue challenging, interdisciplinary problems, and good communication and organizational skills are essential. The appointment is for 1 year and is contingent upon funding and can be expanded to a longer term contingent upon funding.
