Applications are invited for a full time, 17 month fixed term Post Doctoral Fellowship to work on a Marsden funded project under the leadership of Associate Professor Alison Downard and Keith Baronian. The research will address the development of methods to interface nanostructures with mammalian and microbial cells for direct electrochemical measurements. This position will work closely with a PhD student (synthesis and chemical modification of nanostructures). The project is closely aligned with the work of the MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology (www.macdiarmid.ac.nz).
The successful candidate will hold a PhD with expertise in electrochemistry, with knowledge of cell biology, biophysics, biological engineering or similar. Familiarity with high solutions imaging methods is desirable. Additionally, they will have sound data analysis skills and possess good organizational and presentation abilities.
This position is based at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand however the successful applicant must also be prepared to travel within New Zealand as the project requires.
